Sunday Snippet: Order in the Court

Hello October and welcome spooky season! I love this month for a lot of reasons. The spooky vibe being close to the top of the list, but it's quickly followed by cooler weather—usually—and that means it's soup weather! I love making soup on a cool day and savoring it with crusty breads, grilled cheese, and other creative toppings.

I'm through the worst of the yuck and back to almost normal. Of course, that means something else went sideways. In my case, our older doggo ended up with an emergency trip to the vet because her congestion got so bad her eye swelled up. She's on a steroid and broad-spectrum antibiotic and already seems to be much better already.

I'm slowly getting caught up on my work projects. I need to review the details of two new ones now that my brain isn't in sludge mode. I'm pretty excited about my last quarter of work projects for 2025.

Had an okay viewing week. I didn't quite make it through the whole slate of shows. Lower Decks and Reacher didn't make this week's window.

I did watch another episode of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. I'm working my way through season two and I'm enjoying the conflict and tension because it's a real-life quandary. I love Mac for being a voice of reason.

Caught another Foyle's War episode and this is one I'd forgotten. It's so weird how a lot of the themes of this show, which is twenty-some odd years old, are so very prevalent today. Humans are slow learners sometimes.

Death in Paradise ended up being very enjoyable. I'm really not sure about this new police commissioner other than he's way too smarmy and utter unlikable.

Poirot entertained with a way back episode showing how Hastings and Poirot kind of got their start together. Very much enjoyed this one.

Watched another episode of Elementary and quite enjoyed the twisty turns it took. Also loved Joan solving the neighbor issue. Love to see that kind of stuff.

Caught another Batman Beyond and it's one I didn't really remember either. Quite enjoyed the rewatch.

That's it for the life update. Tonight's post is from Order in the Court, a sexy short about how a succubus and a shape shifter keep things interesting.

Here's the miniblurb:

Mace Ormondson, a fae prince, presides over the daily court grievances and disputes. When a new advocate, Nessa Goff, is appointed it turns Mace's world upside down and sideways, because Nessa happens to be the bane of his existence and a huge pain in his ass.

And a preview snippet…

Mace Ormondson stepped into the back alley behind Dandy Jim's and revised his facial features, changing from a blond wizard into the dark-haired fae prince he'd been since birth.
Dan stuck his head outside the back door. "Always nice to have you, Mace. But it's extra special tonight." His eyebrows waggled, a trademark gesture. "Puts on a helluva show, doesn't she?" He made a low growling sound.
Mace's lips quirked. "That she does, Danny boy." Mace hoped she got what she needed.
But he couldn't stick around to find out. Not tonight. Which kind of broke Mace's heart … because he definitely sported a massive hard-on after watching that spectacular, sexy striptease. With every extra hip bump or breast bounce she added because the spectators were so into the dance, Mace grew longer and harder to the point of needing relief soon.
But she exited the stage leaving everyone, male and female, salivating for more and hoping for one last glimpse of the gorgeous Nessa. The shouts for an encore hadn't died down yet. No doubt she basked on the continued surge of energy.
Mace tipped his chin toward the building. "You'll make sure she gets home safe and sound?" He trusted Dan to personally escort Nessa.
Not so much because she needed protection … she could defend herself if necessary. Mace relied on Dan because the two men had been friends since childhood and Dan could read Nessa's fluctuating levels of chi better than anyone. The idea she had about being monogamous might be dangerous to her.
Hell, it's perilous to me.
Especially when he couldn't take care of his reaction until he got home … on the other side of the city.
Dan stepped outside and leaned in close. "You're a shapeshifter, dumbass. Transform. Find a canopy of trees, change back, and take care of your problem." He rolled his eyes. "Sometimes, the royal blood you carry is really obvious." With a slap on Mace's back, Dan went back inside the club.
Mace snorted. "There's a reason he's my best friend." Ducking behind a dumpster, Mace changed into a hawk and soared upward, flying to the east where Menlow Park not only had a gorgeous stand of maple trees, it also had a large lookout station hidden in the leaves.
Mace landed smoothly in the three-room blind and shifted back into human form. He found a comfortable spot on a camp cot and got down to the business at hand. Grasping the heavy length of his cock, he curled his fingers around the girth and firmly tugged back and forth to images of Nessa losing each and every one of those filmy veils.

Having so much fun writing this one. Mace is a little trapped by his royal blood and it's interesting to write that aspect of his character.

That's it for this week.

Cheers!

Sunday Snippet: Order in the Court

Whew. What a week. The weather has been all over the map with storms moving through my state. In our small town, a tree fell on a house in the back end of town, where I happen to live, and we lost power for a few hours. Honestly, not bad all things considered.

A so-so week in television viewing. I got a few more episodes of Blue Heelers in and still really enjoy this Aussie drama.

Also caught Midsomer Murders and quite enjoyed the episode centered on a school's history.

Watched two episodes each of Peter Gunn and Classic Who. I've started the second doctor's arc with the animated Dalek episodes.

Caught another episode of In the Dark and enjoyed it. I'm actually quite thrilled with where the show is right now.

Watched an episode of Frankie Drake Mysteries and liked how the show played out.

Riverdale never fails to go in directions that blow my mind. Watching Archie implode is painful but also riveting. I'm also enjoying Betty's conversations with her dad. I'm still wondering when Alice will get her brain back.

The Lost Canary episode of Arrow proved very entertaining. I'm so, so, so going to miss this show when it's gone.

Caught another episode of Classic Roswell. The introduction of Tess still underwhelms me.

Caught a holiday-themed movie on Pluto TV and enjoyed it. It was hot and sticky outside and viewing a Christmas movie definitely cooled things down a little.

That's pretty much it for television this week. Tonight's post is from Order in the Court, a sexy short that started with a writing community prompt.

Here's the mini-blurb:

Mace Ormondson, a fae prince, presides over the daily court grievances and disputes. When a new advocate, Nessa Goff, is appointed it turns Mace's world upside down and sideways, because Nessa happens to be the bane of his existence and a huge pain in his ass.

And a preview snippet…

Nessa set the scene for her evening.
Wearing one of her stage costumes, she laid out dinner then waited for her guest to arrive. "We should have an interesting night." She lit candles and glanced at the clock.
The door opened with a magical twist of the lock. Right on time. He never failed to be punctual.
Nessa took her place between the table and the entry, a sure clue of how the night would proceed. Her dinner partner entered, stopping a moment to drink in the sight of her in the sheer, filmy confection she usually reserved for her show. Constructed of frothy gauze, the nearly translucent getup left nothing to the imagination.
He let out a low whistle of appreciated. "Damn. My appetite just increased." His gaze raked over her from head to toe.
Her nipples stood proudly on display, the silky fabric keeping them taut with arousal. The frilly, tiered ruffles of the outfit ended just short of her thighs, giving tantalizing glimpses of her bare mound and rounded ass whenever she moved. A sharp intake of breath and a spike of lust in her companion's gaze put the finishing touch on her preparations.
She glided toward him, giving him a moment to mentally close, lock, and secure the door. Stopping an arm's length away, she dropped her gaze to his crotch, her mouth salivating over the outline of the large bulge hidden behind the dark fabric. Her pulse rate surged with anticipation.
She met his heated stare. "Hello, Mace." Her tongue flicked out to wet her lower lip. "I'm in the mood for dessert first." Turning with a sexy twist, she gave him a brief glimpse of her ass. "Any objections?"
His arms shot out, catching her shoulders before his palms ghosted down to settle on her breasts. His thumbs worked over her nipples and he stepped forward, bringing his hard length against her. She snaked her hand between them, cupping the hard flesh.
Dipping his head, his lips hovered over hers. "Not a one, Nessa. Who gets the first taste?" His mouth clamped onto hers and his tongue swept inside.
Nessa groaned and came up for air. "Doesn't matter who as long as we're both sated afterward." Her hands loosened his belt buckle.
Mace gave her a wolfish grin, reminiscent of their first meeting when he'd assumed lupine form. He snapped his fingers and her costume shimmered and shook, working its way up and over her head. His hands spanned her waist and he lifted her off her feet.
His lips curved with a sexy twist. "Then I'll claim the first sample." He lowered her to the plush carpet and spread her legs.
Nessa's breath caught in her throat, anticipation making the blood thrum in her veins. When Mace leaned down, hooking her knees over his shoulders, she arched her hips off the floor. Her instincts kicked in and she absorbed the lust rolling off him.
She chuckled. "Looks like the prize goes to me." Her fingers plunged into his hair, drawing him closer. "I'll make that up to you… I promise."
Mace glanced up. "I'll hold you to that." His head dipped and his tongue dragged over her clit.
A gasp exited her and her hands thudded against the carpet and she curled her fingers into her palms.
Mace's wicked mouth wouldn't take long to work an orgasm out of her.
She relished attaining the release.

I love this story so much. Mace and Nessa are a fun couple to write and their brief journey in this tale is tempting me to write more for them.

That's it for this week.

Cheers!

Sunday Snippet: Order in the Court

Okay, Gotham, you have my attention. I'm now very interested in Bruce Wayne and what's going on with him. Also loved the whole Fish / Penguin interaction. Not sure how I feel about the reporter, Vanessa Vale, yet. I'm not really down with a major triangle but I might be jumping the gun. The whole Ivy thing is also in the I'm-not-sure-about-this corner. Looking forward to Monday!

Agents of SHIELD didn't have a bad premiere. I'm still a week behind. Ended up with a nasty cold / respiratory ick and missed the episode Tuesday.

Van Helsing is still kind of "meh". I'll see if the next few episodes get better and bring the various threads together.

MacGyver is still not too bad. I'll keep watching and see if ends up going too cheesy for my tastes.

Rewatch fare remained with Miss Fisher. I started a fandom bullet journal and hope to jot down my favorite moments from the series. I've been using it to help keep track of what I like and don't like about all my shows.

And that's it for television this week. Tonight's post is from Order in the Court, a sexy short started on the idea of having one character presiding over court when the other walks in as the new prosecutor or defense attorney. I put a little paranormal spin on my idea.

Nessa Goff breathed in the anticipation of the crowd, waiting for her nightly show to begin. She thrummed from the energy, soaking it in, ready for the curtain to slide open. Being a succubus gave her limited options to garner the life-sustaining chi energy she needed to function in the human realm.
Especially since she'd made the commitment to be monogamous.
Inhaling deeply, her lungs filled with a heady thrill.
Dan James, owner of Dandy Jim's Entertainment Emporium, snapped his fingers by her ear.
She blinked and met his gaze. "Sorry, Dan. Just sampling the crowd. I didn't take too much." She hoped.
Dan quirked a brow. "Are you sure he's worth it? You could walk out and not take off your clothes and go home with any man or woman of your choice." An interested gleam lit his eyes. "Or make my entire decade and follow me back to the dressing room." He waggled his eyebrows.
Nessa laughed, shaking her shoulders so the filmy veiled fringe of her costume caught the light. "He doesn't mind my stage show, so yeah, he's worth it." She jerked her head toward the pull cord for the curtain. "Come on, let's get the party started." Taking her place behind the velvet barrier, her eyes closed and her head bowed.
The gentle swish when the curtain moved ended up being drowned out by the applause and wolf whistles of the crowd. A brief drum roll cued Nessa and her head snapped up, the swell of music coming in on her first step toward center stage. She spun, moving in a circle, rocking her hips to the beat.
The room erupted in amazing energy and Nessa gorged for several, long seconds before moving into phase two of her act. A series of spins took her to stage right where she caught hold of her one and only prop, a large feathered fan.
"Oh, yeah! This is what I paid to see." An attractive gentleman shot to his feet, fist-pumping the air. "Take those veils off, baby. Show me some skin!"
One of Dan's bouncers clasped the guy on the shoulder and urged him to sit back down. Nessa blew the man a kiss and gave an exaggerated wink. She snapped the fan shut and did a modified belly dance while moving the device into position. When she spread it open again, one of the iridescent veils pulled free. She made a show of swirling it in the air, then let it flutter to the stage.
The patrons went wild and Nessa basked in the smorgasbord of endorphins, testosterone, desire, and passion. The heady feeling of being full encompassed her and her moves got sexier and bolder. One by one, she removed the gauzy pieces of fabric, revealing tantalizing glimpses of her nude body.
After a sinuous dance across the stage, Nessa got rid of the fan and entered the final phase—sensuous gyrations with her naked body on full display. Her senses went into overload when the lust and hunger increased yet again. Her gaze scanned the audience, landing on a lone figure in a darkened corner. She couldn't see his face, but her heightened awareness didn't need visual contact. He watched. He yearned. He craved.
Satisfied and sated, she finished her show and played to the crowd, blowing kisses and waving farewell. Taking the center spot again, her head lowered and her eyes slid shut. The lights dimmed, casting her in a single beam before the music faded and the curtain swayed across the floor, the panels meeting in the middle.
Nessa reveled in the afterglow of the successful event. She practically buzzed with energy, brimming with vitality. When Dan handed her a robe, she wrapped it around her and stumbled to her dressing room. She needed to head home and prepare for tomorrow morning.
And with the mega-dose of chi, she had no doubt she'd kick some major ass.

I have a lot of love for this story. Here's hoping I can get the rest of it put together and out into the world in 2017.

That's it for this week.

Cheers!

Sunday Snippet: Order in the Court

Hi!

I hope everyone who celebrates the 4th had a safe and happy one filled with lots of fireworks!

Some great TV even with the holiday week. Defiance keeps getting better… and darker, which I love bunches. Dominion also keeps me coming back. I'm not quite sure I have everything down but I like to be kept guessing. Forgot to mention The Last Ship… loving it. I have a thing for shows with ships and combine it with a mutated virus, I'm totally there.

Tonight's post is from, Order in the Court, a short sexy romp about a day in the Fae Court.

Here's the tagline:

Mace Ormondson, a fae prince, presides over the daily court grievances and disputes. When a new advocate, Nessa Goff, is appointed it turns Mace's world upside down and sideways, because Nessa happens to be the bane of his existence and a huge pain in his ass.

And a preview snippet…

Mace sighed heavily. "Is there anyone who can speak for the opposing side?" He hoped not.
He wanted to end the session and get on with his day.
Nessa strode into Mace's chambers and moved to stand directly in front of his podium. "Nessa Goff, advocating for the Banshee Prime."
Mace barely held back a groan. The band of his very existence would speak for the Katya Korsh. He braced for a long, long day.
Settling back and trying to get comfortable, he nodded. "Advocate Goff. Whenever you're ready."
Nessa smirked. "I'm always ready, Prince Regent." She turned and shrugged out of her jacket, draping it over chair. "The Banshee Prime seeks recompense for the loss of three novices." She faced Mace again. "And I won't be leaving until you make that happen."
Mace's mouth thinned. "You'll leave when I end the session, Advocate Goff. If you have a specific request, state it now. Save the showboating for your stage act."
A collective gasp echoed throughout his chambers. Nessa narrowed her eyes, but withheld her venomous tongue. Good. Mace didn't plan to give her the upper hand. She'd have to play by his rules—not make up her own. Not this time. And definitely not here.
Nessa inclined her head. "What I do with my time each night has no place here. You want specifics, here they are." She paced back and forth with a slow gait. "The Druid Master, Optan Banz, will deed the cavern temple to the Banshee Order, or forfeit three of his adept minors into their service." She paused and glanced toward Mace. "Ball's in your court, Prince Regent."
Mace cocked his head to one side, studying Nessa for several long moments. "Optan will provide an open ended lease to the cavern temple and allow one adept minor to serve the Order for a period of one year." Mace straightened and addressed the entire room. "The blood feud between the banshees and the druids has gone on too long. The two sides will have to work together to end it." He turned towards Optan's advocate, Martice. "Make sure Optan chooses his adept wisely, for he'll be making weekly reports to the Druid Master and my aide administrator."
Martice frowned, but agreed. "Yes, Prince Regent."
A slow smile curved Nessa's lips upward and she pivoted around, grabbed her jacket from the back of the chair and slung it over her shoulder. She didn't say a word when she quietly walked out of Mace's chambers, the only sound coming from the click of her heels on the stone-tiled floor.
Mace raised the gavel and clamped it down, dismissing the session. The occupants spilled out of his chambers, noisily discussing the day's events.
He leaned back in his seat, a hand rising to rub along his temple. "That damned woman might just be the death of me."
Nessa might have had the upper hand here, but just wait until Mace catches up with her later. J

That's it for this week.

Cheers!
